Ron & Danell Perlman In honor of the light of our lives for nearly 17 years:

Darling Timona,

No longer by our side, but forever in our hearts. You made everyone smile who was lucky enough to meet you.

Losing one pet is hard, but losing two in three months is impossible to define.

Timmy and Charley - Joyce Dogs.jpg

Timmy (black Lhasa Apso) walked his daddy, Bob, every morning for 14 years. Until one day he couldn't do it anymore and it was discovered he had cancer and kidney stones. Charley (Maltipoo) was a rescue who stole his mommy's heart (Joyce) and never left her side.

Joyce had a heart attack and her B12 tanked in the Spring of 2025. During her long recovery period Charley started coughing and subsequently panting, first a little then a lot. Both dogs went in for tests that December when it was discovered Charley's coughing was due to a bad heart making it difficult for him to breathe. He lasted three months giving Joyce time to say Goodbye.

The house is so unbearably quiet now.  Joyce "sees" and "hears" Charley everywhere. Timmy sat by his daddy protecting him and loving him every day until he just couldn't anymore. Their personalities were different, but the two dogs met as older adults and got along great. Timmy welcomed Charley into his home and yard, but very quickly Charley became King of the Castle and permitted Timmy to share his space. Charley slept between Joyce and Bob while Timmy was at the foot of the bed, usually on his daddy's side. Bob misses Timmy, and I miss snuggling with Charley, talking to him and knowing that he understands.

Thank you, Shakespeare Animal Fund, for everything you are doing in Reno, NV and Alachua, FL to help animals in need and their humans. I remember Jennifer starting Shakespeare 21 years ago when we both lived in Reno, and dedicating it to a dog she loved so much. I can tell you Shakespeare is looking down from Heaven with a big doggy smile every time another animal is helped.
