Joann was frantic. As a disabled woman she had taken her dog Dylan to the vet's after he had swallowed something and was, in her words, dying.

Unfortunately the bill was for $250, and she had no money to pay until her disability check came in at the beginning of the month. This particular vet's office said they had to have full payment or no dog. They kept Dylan, tacking on a boarding fee each day the dog remained in their care, even though they wouldn't release the dog.

Joann said Dylan had never been away from home, and she was so worried because there was no way they could make even a partial payment until the beginning of the month. The Shakespeare Animal Fund helped, and Joann got her beloved Dylan back (and called us crying with joy). Without some help Joann had no way of getting her dog back for several more days, with several more days of boarding fees added on.
